Metallic and iridescent pieces are going to be hot this spring and summer. If you’re not ready to go all out on the statement piece, it’s easy to incorporate this trend into your shoe collection. “Loafers” weren’t necessarily an item that I would reach for while shopping. However, designers are revamping the look of loafers with a modern minimalistic design. These puppies are definitely a staple every wardrobe should have! Embracing this trend will definitely vamp up your work wardrobe and will translate well during nightlife as well. I’m obsessed with this trend because it’s so easy to embrace and it’s super fun. I purchased the forever 21 rose gold loafers and I love them!! They bring so much personality to a look, whether it’s casual or professional. Below are some options and different designs that will help you embrace this trend. When reaching for a metallic or iridescent shoe you don’t always have to go with the typical gold, rose gold or silver. This trend also comes in super fun shades like magenta and teal, so it’s easy to choose something your comfortable with and something that will compliment your style. Below are two options on how to style your new funky loafers.

Winter Must Have: Leather Leggings

Madewell black turtleneck top / Duster coat, $24 / Yves Saint Laurent black skinny jeans / Yves Saint Laurent leather flat, $850 / Givenchy black handbag / Illesteva matte black glasses

Lately I’ve been obsessed with leather leggings. They’re an amazing staple for the winter. Ever since graduating it’s been a little difficult to dress up everyday. Leather leggings are an easy way to spruce up any look, yet stay effortless. The best thing is that they come in many patterns and styles, so it’s super easy to change it up a bit. Even though they’re leather, they shouldn’t be paired with short shirt or blouse. Pair with a longer sweater, button down or tunic for an effortless chic look. Below are some options if you’re looking to add leather leggings to your wardrobe.

Swell Liquid Legging- $19.50 (purchase here)

Alexander Wang x H&M

IMG_2890I’ve never participated in a major collaboration launch because the location of my school made it difficult. Finally, I have been able to indulge in one of these amazing collaborations. About a week ago the Alexander Wang x H&M collection hit the stores. My best friend Ashley and I stood outside in the chilly rain to get our hands on the collection. The line or the wait wasn’t bad at all.

First off I’d like to say that the collection was pleasing to the eye, yet a little painful for the wallets. The collection was made with quality materials, which was awesome considering the prices. However, some of the materials weren’t exactly flattering for most body types. The products that were made out of scuba material definitely were not flattering.

IMG_2893I managed to pick up this black “sweater”, which is actually more like a shirt. I loved the detail throughout the shirt and the combination of the fabric with mesh. It’s such a great piece; I’ll definitely get a lot of use from it. One thing I can say about the collection is the pieces run a little larger. I managed to pick up an extra-small when I’m usually a small/medium in tops. This top is lovely and I cannot wait to style it when it gets a bit warmer out. Below are some photos of the shirt and the items it came with.IMG_2898IMG_2897IMG_2899What pieces were you able to snag and what are your thoughts of the collection? Corner Collection by Warby Parker

Sunglasses and glasses are always a staple no matter what season you’re in. Maybe you want to buy sunnies for the fall or ditch your contacts for the new school year. If you’re someone like me, I have a hard time finding a sleek and chic pair of sunnies that are absolutely perfect and flexible to wear year round. Finding the perfect pair of sunnies or everyday glasses lies in the shape in the frame and if it’s flattering for your face shape. If you fall into that category, I am pleased to announce that Warby Parker has released the Corner Collection today.

The Corner Collection experiments with traditional shapes with unique shades of horn-inspired acetate and stainless steel. The collection consists of five new frames—Hutton, Topper, Goodney, Teddy, and Quentin. Each of these frames have a really cool aesthetic, yet gives a classic and effortless vibe. Each of the styles come in two new hues as well—Rhubarb and Quartz. These two colors are perfect and flattering for the warm and cooler months as well.

I’ve recently come to terms that a lovely classic cat eye looks great on me. The Goodney has a cat eye shape, yet it is revamped in a way. This frame will bring together and polish any look. The Goodney readers would look amazing for someone who’s going back to school or for someone who wants to revamp their look. A stylish pair of readers or everyday glasses will start your school year or a job on the right foot. I centered this look around the Goodney glasses, keeping it simple, yet classic and trendy. I’m in love with the oversized coat trend, so I thought this grey Purity coat from Weekday was perfect. To complete the look I also opted for a white Slit Blouse from Weekday, Paisie Peg Leg Trousers from John Lewis, Miu Miu sneakers, and a Mulberry Mini Cara Delevingne Nappa backpack.

Warby Parker-GoodneyWeekday Purity Coat / White Slit Blouse / John Lewis Paisie Peg Leg Trousers, $105 / Miu Miu Sneakers, $490 / Mulberry Mini Cara Delevingne Nappa backpack, $1,690/ Warby Parker Goodney Glasses

The Corner Collection is available today at Warby Parker, in stores and in showrooms. This amazing collection is pretty affordable and starts at $95. Remember, every for every pair sold, a pair is distributed to someone in need. So, head into your nearest showroom or store and try on a pair of sunnies or readers from the collection. I’m a thousand percent positive that there’s a frame for everyone. The styles are simply to die for! If you purchase from the Corner Collection feel free to show us on Instagram. NYFW: Tadashi Shoji and Desigual

“Every year the women of New York leave the past behind and look forward to the future… this is known as Fashion Week.” –Carrie Bradshaw

Finally, after all of the years of watching/keeping up with NYFW online I have finally made my way to Lincoln Center. Every woman dreams of this moment and it’s a beautiful feeling to experience the madness and excitement of NYFW. The fashion editors at Women’s Health were kind enough to allow myself and another assistant go to the Tadashi Shoji and Desigual shows to represent the magazine.

IMG_1985The first show I attended was Tadashi Shoji. While entering the venue I was beyond excited to finally be in Lincoln Center during the most wonderful time of the year. I was even more excited when I found out I was sitting in the second row. While I was waiting for the show to start, I noticed June Ambrose and Jay Manuel sitting across from me. Anyway, the spring 15 collected started in Ca’ d’Oro, Venice, and this gorgeous place inspired Shoji for the collection. In the collection there was close attention to intricate detailing, which was paired with transparencies. There was mesh, tulle, multi-colored jewels, structured dresses that were airy and effortless. Beautiful pastels of jade, pink, and blue were incorporated in layers, along with ivory and navy. This collection was truly beautiful and breathtaking. I can already tell many celebs will be wearing these amazing pieces on the red carpet.

Here are some photos from the show:

IMG_2141The next show I attended was Desigual. This show was completely different from the first and I loved it! It was upbeat with beautiful colors and patterns. The designs were out of my comfort zone, but it was awesome to be there.  Adriana Lima opened and closed the show, so we already knew it was going to be phenomenal. The collection was inspired by natures florals and fauna. There were tons of Mediterranean and South American patterns that were being used throughout the collection. I cannot wait to see this collection being incorporated into everyday looks.

Here are some photos from the show:

IMG_2180 IMG_2172 IMG_2156 I had a wonderful time at NYFW, and I would love to be apart of the festivities in Feb. Hopefully, you enjoyed this post. What were your favorite shows from NYFW, MFW, LFW and PFW? Leave a comment below!

Three Timeless Fall Trends

As summer comes to an end, I’m excited to indulge in some fall shopping and cooler, less humid, weather. I’m not one to follow trends religiously every season, however here are three trends that are timeless. These trends can be worn throughout every season with minor changes. This fall I am excited to swap out some black items for hues of grey, navy, and bordeaux (I know shocker!).

Jason Wu

Normcore-Jil Sanders

Jil Sanders

I absolutely love the normcore look for every season. Some of my favorite normcore looks this past fashion week was from Jason Wu, Jil Sanders, and Theory. Each designer delivered a sleek and ultra-feminine look, which is exactly why I love this trend. Even though it’s a little masculine, I find this style so classy and sexy at the same time. Normcore is a sleek and monochrome style that is flattering for many body types. The great thing about this trend is that it’s compatible with every season. In the fall you can stick with different gradients of black, grey, navy and bordeaux. During the spring and summer months you can opt for whites, nudes, and pastel colors. This winter I’m excited to introduce more grey into my wardrobe. In this look I love how the grey Valentino cape adds an unexpected element to the normcore look. I kept the rest of the look with a black Alexander Wang pinstripe tee, black Chloe trousers, and black ankle boots. To accessorize, you can always amp up this look with a bold red lip or a dark and vampy color. I suggest keeping the rest of the makeup and hair effortless and natural.

Sweater Dressing

Sweater Dressing-Stella McCartney

Stella McCartney

Every wardrobe needs a great sweater dress. When it comes to this essential piece, I would suggest splurging because no one wants to have to replace this piece every single year. A sweater dress will never go out of style and is definitely a wardrobe must have. This piece is so easy to pair with anything and you can easily dress it up or down, while staying cozy and warm. There are so many affordable dupes that are also great quality at Zara. During fashion week there were many designers that showcased this staple piece. My favorites were from Michael Kors and Stella McCartney. I loved how both looks were completely different. It just shows how versatile a sweater dress could be. When creating this look I was torn between the classic knit sweater dress or a really cool modern sweatshirt dress. The two main pieces were the Kenzo sweater dress and the sweater mini dress by Cedric Charlier. Since it will be a little chilly I paired both dresses with an oversized wool Burberry Brit coat (another fall staple). To clean up and finish the look I completed the look with a black Givenchy Antigona tote, a black wool fedora from Rag & Bone, and a pair of really cool yellow python brogues by Simone Rocha.

I’m not one for indulging in purchasing bright pieces for my wardrobe. However, I do think it’s essential to have a few pieces or looks that are out of your comfort zone. Pieces like these are perfect for a “girls night out” or even for fashion week. I wanted to keep this look bold and colorful, while staying practical to my style. I didn’t want to be too matchy matchy so I went with a really cool bold purple jumper from Alberta Ferretti. To break up the massive colored coat I paired it with a pair of fuchsia silk trousers from Ostwald Helgason. To keep the look practical, I finished the look with a black West Coast jumper and black Phillip Lim Alexa ankle boots.
