Grunge

Embracing Pink, the Punk and Grungy Way.

Hello everyone! Thanks for tuning in for this weeks Trendy Tuesday.

Surprisingly, blush is in for the fall and winter. Many people have been scared to incorporate pink into their wardrobe because it can come off as extremely girly. Since it’s a trend for the fall/winter, the task at hand is to make sure we incorporate pink in a darker and cooler fashion. I have have seen many looks with blush overcoats and jackets, so I thought it would be awesome to switch it up a little. These looks were very polished and sophisticated. The looks I have created have a dark element to them and are grungy, while keeping the chic aspect.

ImageThe first look was something very affordable and reminded me of like a super cool street style look. Keeping in mind all of the students, interns, and employees who have a tighter budget, should be able to embrace this trend, while sporting quality looks. I thought this outfit was perfect because every garment pulls this look together. The statement piece, the blush skirt, in this look is the circle skirt. I decided to pair the statement piece with a light colored sweater as well as a chunky black suede moto jacket, black bowler hat and chelsea boots. If you live on the East coast don’t be afraid to wear some black opaque tights under the skirt. The dark elements of this look balance out the lightness of the skirt and sweater. Here’s where you can get these items:

  1. Quilted Panel Suede Jacket from Mango
  2. Hatch Knit Sweater from weekday.com
  3. Pink Mini Skirt from fashionunion.com

ImageThe second look I’ve created is something for people with a wider budget. Just like the first outfit this look is still perfect to wear in the workplace, at school, or out with some friends. The statement piece of this look it the pink cashmere sweater with the black collar and the stud detailing. This was a great piece because the black collar and stud detail sets this sweater apart from the rest. It already has an edgy and grungy feel to it. I paired the sweater with a pair of wool shorts, black boots, black tote, silver jewelry and some black cat eyed sunglasses. As said previously, if you live where the climate is colder don’t be afraid to pair with a pair of black opaque tights and a wool overcoat. I think the pieces I paired with the sweater completes the outfit by continuing the grungy and punk theme. Here’s where you can purchase these pieces:

  1. Moschino Cheap & Chic Stud Collar Cashmere Jumper from my-wardrobe.com
  2. Carven Boiled Wool Shorts from my-wardrobe.com

Best, Jair xx
