Metallic and iridescent pieces are going to be hot this spring and summer. If you’re not ready to go all out on the statement piece, it’s easy to incorporate this trend into your shoe collection. “Loafers” weren’t necessarily an item that I would reach for while shopping. However, designers are revamping the look of loafers with a modern minimalistic design. These puppies are definitely a staple every wardrobe should have! Embracing this trend will definitely vamp up your work wardrobe and will translate well during nightlife as well. I’m obsessed with this trend because it’s so easy to embrace and it’s super fun. I purchased the forever 21 rose gold loafers and I love them!! They bring so much personality to a look, whether it’s casual or professional. Below are some options and different designs that will help you embrace this trend. When reaching for a metallic or iridescent shoe you don’t always have to go with the typical gold, rose gold or silver. This trend also comes in super fun shades like magenta and teal, so it’s easy to choose something your comfortable with and something that will compliment your style. Below are two options on how to style your new funky loafers.

Alexander Wang x H&M

IMG_2890I’ve never participated in a major collaboration launch because the location of my school made it difficult. Finally, I have been able to indulge in one of these amazing collaborations. About a week ago the Alexander Wang x H&M collection hit the stores. My best friend Ashley and I stood outside in the chilly rain to get our hands on the collection. The line or the wait wasn’t bad at all.

First off I’d like to say that the collection was pleasing to the eye, yet a little painful for the wallets. The collection was made with quality materials, which was awesome considering the prices. However, some of the materials weren’t exactly flattering for most body types. The products that were made out of scuba material definitely were not flattering.

IMG_2893I managed to pick up this black “sweater”, which is actually more like a shirt. I loved the detail throughout the shirt and the combination of the fabric with mesh. It’s such a great piece; I’ll definitely get a lot of use from it. One thing I can say about the collection is the pieces run a little larger. I managed to pick up an extra-small when I’m usually a small/medium in tops. This top is lovely and I cannot wait to style it when it gets a bit warmer out. Below are some photos of the shirt and the items it came with.IMG_2898IMG_2897IMG_2899What pieces were you able to snag and what are your thoughts of the collection? Poshmark “Summer In The City” #PoshPaty

Last Thursday, I had the privilege to attend Poshmark’s “Summer In The City” Posh Party on behalf of Dana-Maxx. Poshmark is this really cool site/app where you can sell clothes or accessories. When you sell items they take a small percentage of the final selling price. My posh closet is: @fashionroyalty. Poshmark has several events similar to this one in different states to unite their users, which I think is pretty awesome.

Left to Right: Martha, Sarah, Jen, Olivia, and Naty

The “Summer In The City” party was hosted by five amazing bloggers: Olivia from The Corporate Catwalk, Sarah from The House of Sequins, Martha from M Doll NYC, Jen from Skirt the Rules, and Naty from A Love Affair With Fashion. I was excited to not only see them, but also the other bloggers in attendance as well.

First off, the hosts were so nice. They were very excited to meet the ladies who shop their closets as well as read their blogs. All of these amazing ladies were humble and sweet, which is always pleasant.

At the venue there were drinks, hors d’oeuvres, a mani and pedi station, amazing music and a place to take photos with awesome props. At the event I was able to meet some amazing bloggers who share the same passion as me. Also, I met some amazing women who would love to support Dana-Maxx and her amazing designs. To make this post short and sweet, this was a fantastic event for having a good time, shopping, and networking. If there’s a posh party in your area or closer, I would suggest going. Until we meet again PoshParty.

Mini Haul: Zara and H&M

First and foremost sorry for the lack of posts. I’ve been extremely busy with my internship and adjusting from graduation. I thought to kick off the summer season with something new. I decided to share a mini haul with you guys. Please let me know if you like this type of post and I will share more beauty and fashion hauls.

Processed with VSCOcam with m5 presetTo start off, I only picked up three things. Since I graduated college I’ve been purchasing pieces that will last a while and will be of use to me. Zara is having an amazing sale and I’m not sure when it ends. So make sure to head to the closest store or shop online. Anyway, I picked up a pair of sweatpants. I’ve wanted to add more “stylish and chic” sweatpants to my wardrobe and I thought these were the perfect ones. The grey velour trousers are light grey and have black detail make these trousers super easy to wear. Originally these sweatpants were $35 and I got them on sale for $19.99!

Sweatpants from Zara

I then head to H&M, they were also having a little sale… Not as great as Zara’s obviously. I picked up two things from H&M and I can say that I am pretty pleased with them. Unfortunately I cannot find pictures of the items I brought online. I’m assuming they’re pretty old. Anyway, the first piece that caught my eye was a cotton romper that had a delicate lace detail around the v-neck. I thought it was so cute and had to try it on right away. The shape of the romper isn’t clingy, it has just the right amount of give and looks very flattering. I purchased that piece for $17.95. The next piece I purchased were the perfect pair of loose fitting trousers. Even though they’re dry clean only, they are beautiful and should be apart of everyone’s wardrobe. I picked these gems up for $24.99, which is a bargain in my eyes.

That’s all for my mini haul. I hope you find some inspiration and like this type of post. Again, if you do like and if you have any suggestions of other posts you’d like to see leave a comment below!

xx

#CollegeStyle: Majella Shields

During my four years at uni, I was able to have the opportunity to study abroad in Australia and Oxford, England. The first thing I noticed abroad was the style of students there compared to students in the States. You can tell they spent more time on getting dressed in the morning. They were more put together and fashion forward. In the States, you find students wearing yoga pants, leggings, and uggs most of the time. Unfortunately, I’m one of those lazy students. During the week, I don’t really get dressed for class. I just love to be as comfortable as possible, even if I look like crap. I can say that was something I did admire,  these students I studied with in Oxford and Sydney took the time everyday to get dressed and look put together.

I met Majella this year in my global communication and marketing class. I noticed that everyday she came to class dressed to impress and I was obsessed with it! Knowing she was from Ireland, I wasn’t shocked at all. But she still had amazing style. I love Majella’s style because she isn’t afraid of color, patterns, or textures. My own personal style consists of a lot of black, white, and grey. So, I could truly appreciate Majella’s use of color. It not only brightens up the day, but the chilly weather that comes along with it. I mean, Majella could do NO wrong!

Majella ShieldsName: Majella Shields

Occupation: Fashion Student

Where are you from? Ireland

How would you describe your style? I would say my style is quirky and different. I like weird pieces that stand out and wear them with original simple garments for balance. I hate having the same clothes as everyone else so i like to customize my clothes, and i also like to make my own garments. I made a dress and wore it to a wedding in the summer, which was interesting. I also like to shop in thrift stores, I have found some unique pieces that you just couldn’t buy in stores for as little as $1 which makes it even nicer.

What are your favorite stores to shop in? I am a huge fan of Topshop and Primark. Primark is a fast fashion store with really good prices. I will buy most of my clothes there; they have fab jewelry, shoes and bags. If i have a special occasion or want to treat myself i will go to Topshop or River Island. Although from coming to America I discovered Forever 21, although I’m not a huge fan i find the quality of their clothes and jewelry especially not very good. As I mentioned I have also got into thrift shopping i have also found some good bargains in the old navy clearance section. I love a good bargain!

Who’s your favorite designer? I love Peter Pilotto, he is an Austrian designer he is known for his bright kaleidoscope pattern and structured dressed his work is truly gorgeous. He recently made an affordable collection for target, which flew out of the stores in hours.

What is one item of clothing you feel your best in? I have a little white crochet lace dress that I got from H&M last year I love it. It can be worn over or under brightly colored blouse, or with a flannel for daywear with tights a boots, or at night with heels and a statement necklace. I wear it a lot it’s so comfortable and flattering.

Do you normally love to incorporate lots of color in your looks? Yes, I love color. I try to incorporate a few colours into my outfits but I will ensure one color is constant, for example if I am wearing a black skirt I will wear a black collar under a brightly coloured sweater, and I will tie it all together with a neutral coloured belt and the same neutral colored shoes or boots.

What is the one item you can’t live without (can be anything)? My oversized denim jacket that I’m wearing today and most days!!

Do you often mix and match fabrics and colors? Yea, I like to clash patterns a lot. A black and white polka dot shirt tucked into a blue aztec printed skirt with black tights to tie it all together.

What are you wearing? Today i am wearing a bright pink shirt, under a loose cable knit grey sweater and a black and white statement necklace, with a black leather mini skirt with black tights, little brown boots a brown oversized bag and my oversized denim jacket.
