Corner Collection by Warby Parker

Sunglasses and glasses are always a staple no matter what season you’re in. Maybe you want to buy sunnies for the fall or ditch your contacts for the new school year. If you’re someone like me, I have a hard time finding a sleek and chic pair of sunnies that are absolutely perfect and flexible to wear year round. Finding the perfect pair of sunnies or everyday glasses lies in the shape in the frame and if it’s flattering for your face shape. If you fall into that category, I am pleased to announce that Warby Parker has released the Corner Collection today.

The Corner Collection experiments with traditional shapes with unique shades of horn-inspired acetate and stainless steel. The collection consists of five new frames—Hutton, Topper, Goodney, Teddy, and Quentin. Each of these frames have a really cool aesthetic, yet gives a classic and effortless vibe. Each of the styles come in two new hues as well—Rhubarb and Quartz. These two colors are perfect and flattering for the warm and cooler months as well.

I’ve recently come to terms that a lovely classic cat eye looks great on me. The Goodney has a cat eye shape, yet it is revamped in a way. This frame will bring together and polish any look. The Goodney readers would look amazing for someone who’s going back to school or for someone who wants to revamp their look. A stylish pair of readers or everyday glasses will start your school year or a job on the right foot. I centered this look around the Goodney glasses, keeping it simple, yet classic and trendy. I’m in love with the oversized coat trend, so I thought this grey Purity coat from Weekday was perfect. To complete the look I also opted for a white Slit Blouse from Weekday, Paisie Peg Leg Trousers from John Lewis, Miu Miu sneakers, and a Mulberry Mini Cara Delevingne Nappa backpack.

The Corner Collection is available today at Warby Parker, in stores and in showrooms. This amazing collection is pretty affordable and starts at $95. Remember, every for every pair sold, a pair is distributed to someone in need. So, head into your nearest showroom or store and try on a pair of sunnies or readers from the collection. I’m a thousand percent positive that there’s a frame for everyone. The styles are simply to die for! If you purchase from the Corner Collection feel free to show us on Instagram. Trendy Tuesday: Flatforms and Birkenstocks

Summer is right around the corner and I can’t help but search for the perfect flatform and Birkenstock sandal. As we all know, flatforms and Birkenstock styled sandals will be the biggest trend of this summer.

As of now, many stores are carrying different versions of each of these styles. I know that Birkenstock is actually sold out of their infamously ugly sandals. However, it won’t be hard to find a knock off pair that’s just as stylishly ugly/chic. One site that is catering to everyone’s summer trend needs is Steve Madden. They have tons of affordable and chic options if you’re looking for flatforms or Birkenstock styled sandals. Here are four sandals that are definitely on my summer trend list.

Steve Madden: Flatform/Birkenstock Obsession

1. The Scotttie, $99.95,  flatform is definitely one of my favorites. I’m obsessed that this shoe is all black and platform. I’m also obsessed with the leather straps on the shoe. The leather gives the shoe a premium feel for an affordable price. It will be easy to dress up or down these edgy flatforms. These beauts aren’t out yet, so you will have to visit the site to pre-order them.
2. The Boundreee, $89.95, are a chic twist on your classic Birkenstock. I loved these sandals because they were that trendy Birkenstock look with a twist. I loved the pony leopard print. It really gives these sandals a cool factor that can really amp up a look. I know Birkenstock actually teamed up with a brand to create a pair of Birkenstocks that look like these, except they’re so expensive. These sandals are perfect for this trend. Especially if you fall out of love with this trend in two years, you won’t regret spending a ton of money on these. (They also have these in black pony as well!)
3. The Marked, $89.95, are flatforms as well but not as extreme as the Scotttie’s. These come in black and tan, and are both absolutely purchase worthy. I love these because these would be perfect for everyday wear. They’re not to high or over the top. They’re the perfect style if you want to embrace this style but are still a little skeptical.
4. The Surfside, $99.95, are also one of my favorites. This look is a little more basic for everyday wear. However, like the Soctttie’s they have that super high platform. I love these because of the simple minimal look they have. They’re very simple however they have that cool trendy factor to them. They also come in white as well (but of course I like the black ones better).
I hope these four sandals have inspired you to embrace the flatform and Birkenstock trend this summer. These looks are perfect because they’re affordable! These looks are amazing because they look great and they won’t put a dent in your summer wardrobe fund.

#CollegeStyle: Majella Shields

During my four years at uni, I was able to have the opportunity to study abroad in Australia and Oxford, England. The first thing I noticed abroad was the style of students there compared to students in the States. You can tell they spent more time on getting dressed in the morning. They were more put together and fashion forward. In the States, you find students wearing yoga pants, leggings, and uggs most of the time. Unfortunately, I’m one of those lazy students. During the week, I don’t really get dressed for class. I just love to be as comfortable as possible, even if I look like crap. I can say that was something I did admire,  these students I studied with in Oxford and Sydney took the time everyday to get dressed and look put together.

I met Majella this year in my global communication and marketing class. I noticed that everyday she came to class dressed to impress and I was obsessed with it! Knowing she was from Ireland, I wasn’t shocked at all. But she still had amazing style. I love Majella’s style because she isn’t afraid of color, patterns, or textures. My own personal style consists of a lot of black, white, and grey. So, I could truly appreciate Majella’s use of color. It not only brightens up the day, but the chilly weather that comes along with it. I mean, Majella could do NO wrong!

Majella ShieldsName: Majella Shields

Where are you from? Ireland

How would you describe your style? I would say my style is quirky and different. I like weird pieces that stand out and wear them with original simple garments for balance. I hate having the same clothes as everyone else so i like to customize my clothes, and i also like to make my own garments. I made a dress and wore it to a wedding in the summer, which was interesting. I also like to shop in thrift stores, I have found some unique pieces that you just couldn’t buy in stores for as little as $1 which makes it even nicer.

What are your favorite stores to shop in? I am a huge fan of Topshop and Primark. Primark is a fast fashion store with really good prices. I will buy most of my clothes there; they have fab jewelry, shoes and bags. If i have a special occasion or want to treat myself i will go to Topshop or River Island. Although from coming to America I discovered Forever 21, although I’m not a huge fan i find the quality of their clothes and jewelry especially not very good. As I mentioned I have also got into thrift shopping i have also found some good bargains in the old navy clearance section. I love a good bargain!

Who’s your favorite designer? I love Peter Pilotto, he is an Austrian designer he is known for his bright kaleidoscope pattern and structured dressed his work is truly gorgeous. He recently made an affordable collection for target, which flew out of the stores in hours.

What is one item of clothing you feel your best in? I have a little white crochet lace dress that I got from H&M last year I love it. It can be worn over or under brightly colored blouse, or with a flannel for daywear with tights a boots, or at night with heels and a statement necklace. I wear it a lot it’s so comfortable and flattering.

Do you normally love to incorporate lots of color in your looks? Yes, I love color. I try to incorporate a few colours into my outfits but I will ensure one color is constant, for example if I am wearing a black skirt I will wear a black collar under a brightly coloured sweater, and I will tie it all together with a neutral coloured belt and the same neutral colored shoes or boots.

What is the one item you can’t live without (can be anything)? My oversized denim jacket that I’m wearing today and most days!!

Do you often mix and match fabrics and colors? Yea, I like to clash patterns a lot. A black and white polka dot shirt tucked into a blue aztec printed skirt with black tights to tie it all together.

What are you wearing? Today i am wearing a bright pink shirt, under a loose cable knit grey sweater and a black and white statement necklace, with a black leather mini skirt with black tights, little brown boots a brown oversized bag and my oversized denim jacket.

Rihanna: The New Face of Balmain

This has been a great year for my favorite artist, Rihanna. This season she has managed to launch holiday products for her Mac collaboration, debut the video for her single “What Now”, and break the record for most pop songs. I mean just to name a few of her accomplishments.

This holiday season RiRi’s 10 million followers saw first hand the beautiful designer gifts she has received. But that wasn’t all she wanted to share. On Monday, RiRi announced on Instagram that she is the new face of Balmain Paris. She revealed the first-ever campaign for the Spring 2014 collection.

This whole summer she has been dropping hints and sporting Balmain looks. She also spent a lot of time at the Balmain headquarters in Paris. So, I can’t say that I am surprise. However, I am so happy! This was absolutely one of my favorite collections during Paris Fashion Week and I’m pleased that this edgy goddess is the face for the campaign.

Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin shot the campaign in NYC. In a press release Olivier Rousteing, Balmain’s creative director, said “Not compromising, fresh, modern, the icon of my generation, Rihanna embodies my vision of Balmain in this new campaign. In front of the camera, she makes you feel like she is the only girl in the world.” The styling was obviously done by her personal stylist, Mel Ottenberg. This campaign is just one of the many she has done, to refresh your memory Emporio Armani and Gucci.

RiRi looked absolutely stunning in this campaign. I love the styling of her hair and the neutral makeup. It really accentuates her natural beauty. Here are some images of the campaign:

The Perfect Dose of Sequin for the New Year

Happy Holidays everyone,

Sorry for the lack of content. I’ve finished my semester and now I have a little more time to share some goodies with you! New Years Eve is approaching quickly and we all know we need to have the perfect outfit. It might seem cliché, however sequin garments are always perfect to bring in the New Year. Personally I think NYE is the only holiday you can truly look glam and not over the top in anything sequin. I also love this holiday because it’s the perfect time to step out of your comfort zone and be bold. I’ve put together four looks that can be worn in warm or cooler climates. You’d just have to adjust the look to suit the appropriate weather.

ImageThe first look is a play on a sexy red dress. New Years Eve is the perfect time to step out in a red sequin cutout dress if you want to be bold or step out of your comfort zone. This sequin knee length dress is perfect for NYE. The bold color, cut outs and knee length skirt keeps it sexy yet classy for your New Year’s festivities. To make sure the dress is the statement piece, I would pair this with a simple black pointed toe pump and neutral makeup and nail polish.

  1. Boohoo Aubrey Cut Out Bodycon Dress, $40,
  2. Retro Mid Heel Court Shoe, $40, Zara
  3. NYX Love in Paris Eye Shadow Palette, $9.99,

ImageThe second look is my absolute favorite. Now I wouldn’t recommend this look if you’re going to a party with a bunch of people who would spill drinks on you. This is for a more social get together with a bunch of friends and/or family. I love this look because it wasn’t as bold as the sequin cut out dress.  I was in love with the silver and gold sequin detailed crop top. I love that this top had a quilted look. The gold sequin detail gave it that glam aspect. I paired this top with high waist wide leg trousers. The white trousers gave this look a glamorous and Gatsby vibe. I paired this look with silver booties, a crystal clutch, and plum lips.

  1. Angeli Lattice Crop Top, $1,325,
  2. Alexander McQueen High Waist Trouser, $1,139,
  3. Christian Louboutin Reillissima Lace Illusion Platform Bootie, $1,295,
  4. Alice & Olivia Be Jeweled Embellished Clutch Bag, $465,
  5. Tom Ford Beauty Lip, $49, bergdorfgoodman

ImageThe third look is something a little simpler. This is a look I would definitely wear, not only on NYE. Keeping the outfit simple gives you more room to experiment with your makeup.  This look would go perfectly with a bold lip; therefore I stuck to black and gold throughout the look. The embellished black crop top was perfect to transform this all black look. Since the top had embellishment it gave this look extra glam. I paired this crop top with platform pumps with gold detail and a sequin gold clutch. To set this look apart I’ve also paired this look with orange lipstick.

  1. Black Devore Embellished High Neck Crop Top, $20,
  2. Mia High Waisted Skinny Jean, $72,
  3. Steve Madden Naia Platform Pump, $60,
  4. Gold All Over Sequin Clutch Bag, $28,
  5. Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids, $23,

ImageThe fourth look was one of my favorites as well. One NYE I wore a romper and I loved it! When I saw this romper I fell in love. I loved that it was long sleeve, black, and had some sparkle to it. I also like the gold zipper on the back of the garment. I paired this romper with a pair of jeweled nude open toe satin pumps. Even though the romper is black, the gold and nude lightens up the look. I finished this look with a gold embellished see through clutch, a gold ring, and nude lipstick. This look is classy while having some sex appeal.

  1. Balmain Structured Wrap Dress, $2,229,
  2. Charlotte Olympia Pandora Pearl-in-Shell Clutch Bag, $1,395,
  3. Eva Fehren Gold Champagne Diamond X Ring, $5,785,
  4. Tom Ford Beauty Lip Color, $49,
  5. Badgley Mischka Dree II,

I hope these looks have inspired you to indulge in some sequin to begin the New Year. To show me your recreations or original looks follow me on Instagram (@_Jairx3) and use the hashtag #fashionroyaltyblog! I’d love to see what you will be wearing this NYE! Enjoy the holidays and be safe!

Meadham Kirchhoff x Topshop is Finally Here!

This fall has been the season of collaborations! The next massive collaboration is Meadham Kirchhoff for Topshop. I think this collab is a perfect fit for Topshop because they are known for always having the latest styles and trends as well as some quirky options.

This super fun collaboration will have about 89 funky pieces.  The collection had fur, pastels, cherries, bold bright colors, blacks, whites, ruffles, and lace. Even though this collection was a little bright and over the top for me, there were some staple statement pieces all throughout the collection.

“The [collection’s] over all aesthetic was influenced by Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids, Kembra Pfahler, and glam rock,” Edward Meadham and Benjamin Kirchhoff stated to Fashionista. “It is an enormous and all encompassing collection which will offer a myriad of choice for any customer to adapt or reject as they see it.”

ImageThe looks in this collection can be worn as a whole or individually. So it’s perfect if you have a quirky style or you just want a bold awesome statement piece. The colorful and kooky color and pattern scheme is perfect to brighten up your wardrobe for the fall/winter and carry over as essentials for the spring/summer.  Some of my favorite looks in the collection were the cherry coin purse, the cherry button up blouse, the fur multicolored vest, the pastel multicolored fur bag, and bright pink leopard sweatshirt, to name a few.

The collection will be available at Topshop today, November 21st. The prices range from $8 to $1,200. I would love to see what pieces your favorite pieces or the ones you were able to snag. Follow me on Instagram (@_Jairx3) and hashtag #fashionroyaltyblog to show me your pieces! Here are some of the pieces that caught my eye (all photos courtesy of and to see more photos of the collection visit
