Four 4th of July Essentials

It’s finally the holiday weekend and everyone is jetting off to the Hamptons, Martha’s Vineyard or to their lake houses with the trendiest pieces in their wardrobe. July 4th weekend is the perfect time to début new trendy pieces or to be patriotic (I mean, I would prefer NOT to wear the typical red, white, and blue). The key to having a successful and comfortable holiday is to wear layers. No one wants to look cute, yet absolutely uncomfortable. If you’re heading out to the Hamptons, MV, or anywhere else surrounded by water, it’s important to dress in layers because the days can be warm and the nights can be pretty chilly. Some of my essentials I am packing for the Hamptons are a knit sweater, slouchy trousers, bold printed swimsuit, and my H&M Birkenstock-esque slides. These four items are essential for a comfortable, yet chic long weekend. Knit Sweater: Even though it’s not the fall or winter, a lightly knitted sweater can be an essential. As said before during the summer it can get kinda chilly at night. So it’s always better to be prepared then uncomfortably cold. A knit sweater is an easy way to stay warm without adding too much “bulk” to a look. During this time many designers and stores carry cropped knit sweaters or lightly knitted sweaters, which are perfect for the summer. These sweaters caught my eye because of the light structure and delicate color. Slouchy Trousers: Slouchy trousers are a must for several reasons. They are so easy just to slip on when the weather starts to cool down. They’re also light  to pack, so they don’t add bulk or excess weight to your beach bag. Opting for a bright and bold print can amp up your look. However, you can also opt for something more simple that can go with a variety of looks during the long weekend. Bold Printed Swimsuit: You could never go wrong with a printed swimsuit that has a unique pattern. I’m a sucker for monochrome items, yet it’s always nice to have a few standout pieces. A printed swimsuit can give a look so much character and will set you apart from the other ladies who are wearing black or white bikinis. Bold swimsuits also look amazing when you are tan.. Well I mean, what doesn’t look great against a tan? “Birkenstock Styled” Slides: We all know that Birkenstocks are making a huge comeback this summer and most of them are already sold out. Thankfully, other boutiques that jumped on the bandwagon have supplied us with different varieties of the trendy yet ugly shoe (I’m a sucker for a pair of birks… My boyfriend think they’re Jesus sandals). There are tons of fun colors and styles that would go with personal style type. Obviously my fave are the traditional black Birkenstock, my black H&M crisscross strapped slides, and I like the slides from Steve Madden that have a little platform on the bottom. These sandals have a place in my heart because they are comfortable and they are easy to put on. They’re ideal for the lazy girls out there..me included. They’re also perfect because they’re casual yet they add a cool vibe to any look. If your outfit is pretty dressy, a pair of these will give it a more casual vibe without you looking TOOOOO casual. Trendy Tuesday: Grey Matter.

Hello everyone! Thank you for tuning in for Trendy Tuesday!

ImageOne trend that’s hot this fall and winter are bright and vibrant colors. Another hot trend embraces the gloomy and cool weather during the winter. Using combinations of the color grey in your wardrobe can set you apart from the bunch.  Instead of pairing black with white, you can use grey as one of your staple colors. Grey is the perfect color for this winter because of its versatility. You can go for a light grey, which will look more polished and dressy. Or you could opt for a darker grey, which could be a little more causal and cozy.

ImageThe first look utilizes a neutral grey color. This look is perfect for the east coast. I am in love with this outfit because it looks so expensive, yet it is extremely affordable! I also love this outfit because it’s versatile. It is extremely comfy, yet extremely put together. The statement piece of this look is the turtleneck sweater dress. This is a piece that should be apart of everyone’s fall/winter wardrobe. To complete this look I paired it with a black sweater coat, black Chelsea boots, and a black clutch. Since it gets pretty cold on the east coast you could layer up and pair this look with a pair of opaque tights. I thought it was necessary to pair the turtleneck sweater dress with all black accessories. The completed outfit was sophisticated and cozy, which is perfect for the holiday season.

ImageThe second look is extremely causal and I love it. As a student it is always important to be super comfortable while looking put together. The sweat pant’s caught my eye and was the foundation of this look. Usually sweatpants tend to look boring. I thought these were so cool because of the black details around the waist, knees, and ankles. I thought the black and silver zippers gave the classic sweat pant an edgy look. This look can either go for the west or east coast. If in a colder climate I would suggest layering up and pairing with a warm overcoat. I paired the sweat pant with a black blouse, white platform Converse, a grey backpack and a grey scarf. This look embraced the grey tend, but wasn’t overwhelming because of the different grey tones.

ImageThe forth look was something different and out of my comfort zone for the winter. Usually in the winter I don’t embrace lighter colors. I thought to step out of my comfort zone I would pair grey with some lighter colors. I fell completely in love with these light grey trousers. They were such a beautiful color and I had to base an outfit around them. I decided to pair the trousers with a white light weight long sleeve blouse, light pink Chelsea boots, a light pink bomber jacket, and a grey croc tote. As said before this look was completely out of my comfort zone. However, I loved using different tones of grey and pink to make this look complete.

ImageThe final look is very causal. This was actually one of my favorites out of the four looks. As said previously, if you’re in a cooler climate you can simply sport an overcoat with this look. The statement piece of this look was the ankle boots. These ankle boots are absolutely perfect and unique. These boots had two tones of grey, which complimented each other perfectly. I paired the boots with a grey and black sweatshirt, black trousers, sunglasses, and a dark grey tote.
