Corner Collection by Warby Parker

Sunglasses and glasses are always a staple no matter what season you’re in. Maybe you want to buy sunnies for the fall or ditch your contacts for the new school year. If you’re someone like me, I have a hard time finding a sleek and chic pair of sunnies that are absolutely perfect and flexible to wear year round. Finding the perfect pair of sunnies or everyday glasses lies in the shape in the frame and if it’s flattering for your face shape. If you fall into that category, I am pleased to announce that Warby Parker has released the Corner Collection today.

The Corner Collection experiments with traditional shapes with unique shades of horn-inspired acetate and stainless steel. The collection consists of five new frames—Hutton, Topper, Goodney, Teddy, and Quentin. Each of these frames have a really cool aesthetic, yet gives a classic and effortless vibe. Each of the styles come in two new hues as well—Rhubarb and Quartz. These two colors are perfect and flattering for the warm and cooler months as well.

I’ve recently come to terms that a lovely classic cat eye looks great on me. The Goodney has a cat eye shape, yet it is revamped in a way. This frame will bring together and polish any look. The Goodney readers would look amazing for someone who’s going back to school or for someone who wants to revamp their look. A stylish pair of readers or everyday glasses will start your school year or a job on the right foot. I centered this look around the Goodney glasses, keeping it simple, yet classic and trendy. I’m in love with the oversized coat trend, so I thought this grey Purity coat from Weekday was perfect. To complete the look I also opted for a white Slit Blouse from Weekday, Paisie Peg Leg Trousers from John Lewis, Miu Miu sneakers, and a Mulberry Mini Cara Delevingne Nappa backpack.

Five Favs from London Fashion Week

From September 13th until September 17th all of fashion royalty, editors, bloggers, and brands settle in London to indulge in another Fashion Week. As another Fashion Week and another begins, I am here to name my top 5 favorites from London Fashion Week. As stated in my other fashion week post, these aren’t in any particular order, so sit back and enjoy.

Image#1 Mulberry

The mature and sophisticated elements of Mulberry was refreshing during LFW. Emma Hill used grey florals, black leather, bright florals, and crisp white to give Mulberry a fresh mature look. Hill was able to leave a lasting impression since this was her last show. Look 15 had to be my favorite look out of the collection. As I am a lover of any garment that’s black, I love how Hill used this dark leather to embrace the warmer yet cool weather in spring. The leather button up paired with a less structured leather skirt really did it for me.

Image#2 Burberry

Now who doesn’t love Burberry? I know I am obsessed with Burberry, especially the Spring/Summer 14 collection. Christian Bailey kept it traditional for spring by utilizing pastels and lace however, the looks still were fresh and super feminine. Location is everything right? Bailey was able to snag the perfect location, a transparent tent, for this romantic show. From oversized pastel coats to slim fitting pencil skirts and shirt dresses this collection amazes me every time. My favorite look from this collection was sported by the one and only Cara Delevingne.   Look 2 was a beautiful pink ensemble. The shirt dress was a delicate pattern which was tastefully sheer. I have to say, this look was absolutely perfect for Ms. Delevingne. Another element of this show was the finale. As the models walked down the runway pink rose petals fell from the sky. This was a beautiful touch to play off of the romantic feminine theme of this gorgeous show.

Image#3 Simone Rocha

Simone Rocha Spring/Summer 14 collection was a little different than other collections. Her inspiration led her to an darker edgy collection for SS. These looks were definitely edgy, however they continued to have some feminine elements to them. She kept the feminine structure and instead of using studs stuck to elegant pearls. This collection consisted of white, black, and some green looks (I’m loving the simplicity of color usage). My favorite was look 34. It was a clean white structured dress that was embellished in pearls. I loved how this clean dress was given some character by using pearls on the dress and also with accessorizing with a pearl necklace, bracelets, pearl detail on the sheer socks, and on the oxford loafers. I could definitely envision myself wearing this beautiful look.

Image#4 Mark Fast

This was definitely NOT your typical spring summer collection. This edgy collection was inspired by the 1990’s. The knit cutout dresses, gowns, body suits and sweaters ranged from light blue to black to neon yellow. These looks were paired with gothy/punk creepers and platform boots. This collection definitely appeals to the younger crowd which I love. My favorite look was a light blue and black knit cutout (pretty revealing) gown that had turquoise and black fringe accents on the skirt. Look 10 was a showstopper that caught my eye. It’s something I wouldn’t wear, I need a few more seasons to get my body in shape, but I could see RiRi (Miss Rihanna, my favorite singer) wearing this gown & rocking it!

Image#5 GILES

Last but not least, the most creative show of the LFW. GILES spring summer collection was dramatic and original while paying homage to fashion royalty. The beginning of the show displayed silk printed (pictures of fashion royalty) ensembles. These looks ranged from blazers to gowns. The other half of the show displayed black, purple and baby pink (lips) shirt dresses to structured gowns. My favorite look was a baby pink dress with sheer (lip encrusted) long sleeves with white tennis shoes. This look was perfectly paired with a distressed braid. The effortless hairdo and tennis shoes added a casual element to this elegant yet classic dress. Please get into my closet!

All of these looks were perfectly put together along with the shows to showcase them. The designers and their PR teams did a fabulous job showcasing these gorgeous looks. I hope everyone has enjoyed my top picks of London Fashion Week. What were your favorite looks of LFW?

-Best, Jair
