Winter Must Have: Leather Leggings

Leather
Madewell black turtleneck top / Duster coat, $24 / Yves Saint Laurent black skinny jeans / Yves Saint Laurent leather flat, $850 / Givenchy black handbag / Illesteva matte black glasses

Lately I’ve been obsessed with leather leggings. They’re an amazing staple for the winter. Ever since graduating it’s been a little difficult to dress up everyday. Leather leggings are an easy way to spruce up any look, yet stay effortless. The best thing is that they come in many patterns and styles, so it’s super easy to change it up a bit. Even though they’re leather, they shouldn’t be paired with short shirt or blouse. Pair with a longer sweater, button down or tunic for an effortless chic look. Below are some options if you’re looking to add leather leggings to your wardrobe.

Swell Liquid Legging- $19.50 (purchase here)

Trendy Tuesday: Grey Matter.

Hello everyone! Thank you for tuning in for Trendy Tuesday!

ImageOne trend that’s hot this fall and winter are bright and vibrant colors. Another hot trend embraces the gloomy and cool weather during the winter. Using combinations of the color grey in your wardrobe can set you apart from the bunch.  Instead of pairing black with white, you can use grey as one of your staple colors. Grey is the perfect color for this winter because of its versatility. You can go for a light grey, which will look more polished and dressy. Or you could opt for a darker grey, which could be a little more causal and cozy.

ImageThe first look utilizes a neutral grey color. This look is perfect for the east coast. I am in love with this outfit because it looks so expensive, yet it is extremely affordable! I also love this outfit because it’s versatile. It is extremely comfy, yet extremely put together. The statement piece of this look is the turtleneck sweater dress. This is a piece that should be apart of everyone’s fall/winter wardrobe. To complete this look I paired it with a black sweater coat, black Chelsea boots, and a black clutch. Since it gets pretty cold on the east coast you could layer up and pair this look with a pair of opaque tights. I thought it was necessary to pair the turtleneck sweater dress with all black accessories. The completed outfit was sophisticated and cozy, which is perfect for the holiday season.

  1. Women Heavy Gauge Sweater Coat, $40, from uniqlo.com
  2. Women Alpaca Blend Dress$30, from uniqlo.com
  3. Chelsea Boots, $40, from hm.com
  4. L. Credi Clutch, $40, from zalando.co.uk

ImageThe second look is extremely causal and I love it. As a student it is always important to be super comfortable while looking put together. The sweat pant’s caught my eye and was the foundation of this look. Usually sweatpants tend to look boring. I thought these were so cool because of the black details around the waist, knees, and ankles. I thought the black and silver zippers gave the classic sweat pant an edgy look. This look can either go for the west or east coast. If in a colder climate I would suggest layering up and pairing with a warm overcoat. I paired the sweat pant with a black blouse, white platform Converse, a grey backpack and a grey scarf. This look embraced the grey tend, but wasn’t overwhelming because of the different grey tones.

  2. Sweatpants, $40, from hm.com
  3. Converse All Star Platform Sneaker, $65, from nastygal.com
  4. 9 On The Go Backpack$40, from ninewest.com

ImageThe forth look was something different and out of my comfort zone for the winter. Usually in the winter I don’t embrace lighter colors. I thought to step out of my comfort zone I would pair grey with some lighter colors. I fell completely in love with these light grey trousers. They were such a beautiful color and I had to base an outfit around them. I decided to pair the trousers with a white light weight long sleeve blouse, light pink Chelsea boots, a light pink bomber jacket, and a grey croc tote. As said before this look was completely out of my comfort zone. However, I loved using different tones of grey and pink to make this look complete.

  1. Acne Olympia Wool-Blend Bomber Jacket, $500, from net-a-porter.com

  5. Givenchy Grey Croco Bag HDG, $2,285, from veryeickhoff.com
  6. Karen Walker Orbit Sunglasses, $329, from shopbop.com

ImageThe final look is very causal. This was actually one of my favorites out of the four looks. As said previously, if you’re in a cooler climate you can simply sport an overcoat with this look. The statement piece of this look was the ankle boots. These ankle boots are absolutely perfect and unique. These boots had two tones of grey, which complimented each other perfectly. I paired the boots with a grey and black sweatshirt, black trousers, sunglasses, and a dark grey tote.

  1. Proenza Schouler Knitted Sweater, $600, from ekseption.es

Embracing Pink, the Punk and Grungy Way.

Hello everyone! Thanks for tuning in for this weeks Trendy Tuesday.

Image

Surprisingly, blush is in for the fall and winter. Many people have been scared to incorporate pink into their wardrobe because it can come off as extremely girly. Since it’s a trend for the fall/winter, the task at hand is to make sure we incorporate pink in a darker and cooler fashion. I have have seen many looks with blush overcoats and jackets, so I thought it would be awesome to switch it up a little. These looks were very polished and sophisticated. The looks I have created have a dark element to them and are grungy, while keeping the chic aspect.

ImageThe first look was something very affordable and reminded me of like a super cool street style look. Keeping in mind all of the students, interns, and employees who have a tighter budget, should be able to embrace this trend, while sporting quality looks. I thought this outfit was perfect because every garment pulls this look together. The statement piece, the blush skirt, in this look is the circle skirt. I decided to pair the statement piece with a light colored sweater as well as a chunky black suede moto jacket, black bowler hat and chelsea boots. If you live on the East coast don’t be afraid to wear some black opaque tights under the skirt. The dark elements of this look balance out the lightness of the skirt and sweater. Here’s where you can get these items:

  1. Quilted Panel Suede Jacket from Mango
  2. Hatch Knit Sweater from weekday.com
  3. Pink Mini Skirt from fashionunion.com
  4. Flora Boot from Aritzia
  5. Cambridge Satchel Company 15′ Satchel from piperline.gap.com
  6. Topshop ‘Pork Pie’ Bowler Hat from Nordstrom
  7. Givenchy Beauty Dahlia Noir Eau de Parfum from Barneys
  8. O.P.I Coney Island Cotton Candy Nail Lacquer from liberty.co.uk
  9. Michael Kors ‘Runway’ Chronograph Watch from Nordstrom

ImageThe second look I’ve created is something for people with a wider budget. Just like the first outfit this look is still perfect to wear in the workplace, at school, or out with some friends. The statement piece of this look it the pink cashmere sweater with the black collar and the stud detailing. This was a great piece because the black collar and stud detail sets this sweater apart from the rest. It already has an edgy and grungy feel to it. I paired the sweater with a pair of wool shorts, black boots, black tote, silver jewelry and some black cat eyed sunglasses. As said previously, if you live where the climate is colder don’t be afraid to pair with a pair of black opaque tights and a wool overcoat. I think the pieces I paired with the sweater completes the outfit by continuing the grungy and punk theme. Here’s where you can purchase these pieces:

  1. Moschino Cheap & Chic Stud Collar Cashmere Jumper from my-wardrobe.com
  2. Carven Boiled Wool Shorts from my-wardrobe.com
  3. Alexander Wang ‘Prisma’ Skeletal Lunch Bag from shopzoeonline.com
  4. KENZO Tiger Nappa Neutral Gray Lace-up Leather Boots from jades24.com
  5. Valentino Garavani Rockstud Sunglasses from lindelepalias.com
  6. Lightning Bolt Ring from bingbangnyc.com
  7. Kasun Vampire Bite Ring from wolfandbadger.com
  8. Marc by Marc Jacobs Drippy Metal Ring from piperline.gap.com
  9. Laura Mercier Creme Smooth Lip Colour from bloomingdales.com
  10. Dior Vernis Nail Lacquer from sephora.com

I hope these looks have inspired you to incorporate pink/blush into your wardrobe. Instead of going the safe route, challenge yourself to creating an edgy outfit with this feminine color. Feel free to leave your opinions and comments! I’d love to hear from you guys.

Trendy Tuesday: The Sweatshirt

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

This past weekend I have been thinking of ways to post more content that you love. Since creating this blog, I have posted different topics and to say the least one of your favorites were complete trend looks. To keep my lovely readers happy, I’ve decided to do “Trendy Tuesday”. Every Tuesday I will create a post on how to style one trend. The post will include a luxury look and a look that’s affordable.

To kick off our first Trendy Tuesday, I will speak about an item everyone has in their closet. The stylish sweatshirt.

Even though this garment is usually associated with lounge clothes, it is definitely in this fall. This simple garment is super easy to style and is perfect because you should already have one in your wardrobe. If not, go and buy one NOW! The sweatshirt has been featured on the runway for Fall 2013, it is a great alternative if you’re tired of sporting knit sweaters. Using the sweatshirt as a large component of your wardrobe for the fall and winter will be easy. It’s a versatile garment and you can style it anyway you’d like. For this trend I have prepared two looks, one with a print and another with just a basic solid pullover sweatshirt.

Image

Look #1: This outfit is perfect for a chilly day. The colors of this look make it easy to transition from day to night, and is perfect for a causal Friday look.

The first look I have created caters to everyone who has a bigger spending budget. This look features a sweater with a bold, yet neutral pattern as the main focus. I loved this sweater because it was a piece that stood out, however you could wear it more than once. I decided to pair this look with a simple pair of black jeans, black booties, and some sunglasses. I loved this outfit because it is an easy way to be casual and comfy, while remaining put together and chic.

Image

Look #2: This look is a little more dressy. The white in this look is a perfect combo for a fall or winter look. This is definitely something you can wear to work or out for drinks with some friends.

The second look I created is perfect for a college student. While in school I understand we have a smaller budget and we need to look put together while staying super comfortable. I am in love with this look because even though it’s super casual and easy to put together, it’s a look that looks polished. For this look I paired a simple sweatshirt with a pair of white jeans and some black chunky boots. The accessories bring some color back into the outfit as well as completes the outfit.

Those are my two looks for todays Trendy Tuesday! After reading this post if you do not have a sweatshirt, go snag one! You will fall in love with how easy these outfits are and how comfortable they are. Any sweatshirt will definitely become a fall and winter essential! I hope you have enjoyed reading this post! Stay tuned for more posts!
